Week 5-6
September 4, 2014
The pups are micro-chipped! Wednesday afternoon an assistant of the Dutch Kennel Club came to my house with all the accessories and the necessary paperwork. After the administrative matters she got down to the actual chipping and I had to say which name I wanted to connect to which pup. While the microchipper read the pedigree names - and complimented me on the nice choice of names! - I handed over the pups one by one to have them chipped and officially registered with these sunny, tropical names (in birth order)
Male 'blue'         Rocksett Kangaroo Island
Female 'pink' Rocksett Kimmeridge Bay
Male 'red' Rocksett Keaton Beach
Male 'green' Rocksett Kilton Island
Female 'purple' Rocksett Kilifi Beach
Female 'orange' Rocksett Kavaja Beach
Female 'yellow' Rocksett Kaiona Beach
Female 'mint' Rocksett Kawela Bay
Female 'brown' Rocksett Kosi Bay
Male 'black' Rocksett Kokomo Beach
Such a microchip has the size of a grain of rice and carries a unique identifying number. It is implanted with quite a thick needle, but none of the puppies has squeaked or screamed! Fortunately...
On Thursday morning I've been busy expanding the outdoor pen: it's encreased with a segment where I put a big tunnel for the puppies. This ofcourse is a great addition for these active doggies who now have even more opportunity to run at their heart's content
Day 41: the expanded outdoor pen
Rough-and-tumble play in the ball-tire
Inspecting the tunnel, but scary/weird?... not at all!!!

"Whoosh, there we go!!"
You can also challenge each other in that thing ;-)
In the afternoon together with a friend taking standing pics of this litter (here male 'red' and female 'yellow')

They are always so good, my little sweethearts!!

Day 40: the assistant of the Dutch Kennel Club carries out the administrative steps w.r.t. the microchipping

After the chipping she checks if indeed every pup has a properly functioning microchip
Back inside again they also still have a good time, here female 'brown' and male 'red' playing together
Female 'orange' is sleeping tight
The doggies generally answer nature's call in the box

Male 'black' is dreaming on the tail of... Dyonne!
The sisters 'purple' and 'mint'
As soon as it's warmer they all lie in the cooler part of the pen
Day 39: female 'yellow' is playing with the little plain
And male 'blue' with the knotted rope

Female 'brown' discovered the ribbon that I tied to the pen!

Female 'purple' and female 'pink'
When after feeding the bowl is empty you just go and lie in it!
Great bunch!

Last Sunday some portraits were made of this litter, so I thought I'd start this page with those :-). The pups are pictured in birth order:

What a darling puppies they are, so tremendously sweet and I think they're gorgeous! Their future owners were impressed by them too when they were here this weekend for the second Puppy-meeting. They all cuddled nicely with the pups, many pictures were ofcourse taken again and in between - while it was not raining - they luckily could all see how the pups amused themselves in the garden. After the visitors were gone my sister and I took a moment to clip all the nails once more and at the same time put the coloured collars on like I had planned to do in this period. They weren't yet used to having something around their neck so in the beginning most of them were scratching at the collar every now and then, but very soon it was totally normal again!
The pups have also been spoiled by an even bigger pen so that they continue to have enough living space in the last weeks to come. They are very happy with it and it's a joy to notice how stable and flexible they all are. They're not really impressed by anything, neither if they are outside. Not even when last Monday the local council came to cut the hedges with electric tools and meanwhile the monthly sky alarm sounded; the pups just leasurely sat to listen. Great bunch!
Day 38: while the pups are outside, Venice jumps in the empty pen; what would she be telling me?
Apparently suddenly there's something very interesting to discover in the waterbowl ;-)
When I put the puppies back inside after an hour Dyonne and male 'red' enjoy some 'quality time' together!

The new toilet can also very well be used to play in...
Female 'orange'
Day 37: as of today they are all wearing a puppy collar (velcro system)
The new tunnel is a big success and also another great place to sleep (female 'purple')

Female 'mint' likes it too :-)

In the doggy basket (female 'pink')
Day 36: being creative when it's drizzling a bit
What fun it is to play with a piece of fabric!
Uncle Milan (Rocksett City Side Walks, litter brother to mummy Venice) and male 'black'
Day 35: sweet!
Brother & sister ('black' and 'yellow')

On the throne ;-)

Male 'blue'
Again the piece of fabric: it's elastic so you can gigantically pull it!
