About
Rocksett
|
Rocksett
Golden Retrievers are greatly loved and
proudly owned by Petra Haarmans, devoted to
this beautiful breed since 1990. The
Rocksett praefix indicates that the kennel
was 'founded in the town of Amersfoort by
Petra'. The source of Petra is Petros, a
Latin name meaning 'rock'. A 'sett' is a
cobblestone (my former hometown Amersfoort is also
known as Rocktown or Bouldercity).
Furthermore the English verb 'to set' can be
interpreted as to place/situate.

Past
and present
|
The
foundation of the kennel was in 1995, when I
imported the 9 weeks old puppy Chanel (Ch. Dewmist Crossmolina) from
Sweden. At the time I already owned two Golden
males, Chico (Gregarious'
Admiral Marigold)
and his younger halfbrother Yanic (Gregarious'
Brandnew Adventure). In
1996 the kennel registration took place and in 1998 the first
Rocksett litter was born with Chanel as the
proud, caring mother and foundation bitch.
To
my terrible sadness, I had to part with Chanel in the middle of 2009, rather
unexpectedly despite her great age; she was 13 years and 8 months old. Yanic passed away in
2003 at 11,5 years of age. Chico died in 2005, he lived to be
14 years and 6 months old. These marvelous dogs
will for always be treasured, sadly missed and never forgotten...
In
2006 my wonderful Yacime (JCh./VCh.
Cheek to Cheek Beetlejuice) made her entrance; she grew into
a charming, clever young lady and became
a mother for the first time at the end of 2009.
From this litter, three pups stayed:
Venice
(Rocksett Calling Yoo Hoo) and her brothers Milan
(Rocksett City Side Walks) & Roman (Rocksett Crunching The
Snow). These three also are very beautiful, great and sweet companions who
bring lots of joy!
Skylar (Rocksett
Sunny Hypnotic Breeze) is a daughter from Yacime's second
litter. The intention ofcourse is to also train and show
Skylar. She's an
attractive, adroit young
lady with a lot of gusto and she is so much
fun to have around.
From
the first litter of
Venice funny madcap Dyonne (Rocksett
Trip On Love) stayed. Dyonne has a lot
of working ability and so with her the focus
will be on gundog training and -tests. On
occasion she surely will also appear in the
showring.
Besides occasional
breeding I take great pleasure in
undertaking many things with my
Goldens. My
motivation for all this is simple: this
breed just deserves an active,
variable life full of impulses. So my dogs are treated
daily with a wonderful walk in the forest or a great swim, I
do field trial training with most of them
and also we are frequent
participators in dogshows. But above
all my Goldens are marvellous mates that I
greatly enjoy every day!
Over
the years I came to appreciate the Golden
Retriever more and more, and I cannot
imagine myself living without this fantastic
breed; it's with great love that I spend all
my time and attention around it. Also
I ofcourse try to keep informed
as much as possible about everything that's
going on in the breed.

I
am tremendously grateful
to the breeders of my own dogs for their
neverending knowledge and experience which
they've always shared with me! They form(ed) the base for everything I know
today... Thanks Bart & Maaike
(kennel Gregarious'), Henric (kennel Dewmist)
and Marie-Alpais (kennel Cheek
to Cheek).
