The end...
February 21, 2010 (day 59)

It's been an emotional week with the departure of seven wonderful puppies… Luckily three of Yacime's babies are staying with me: one female and (co-owned with my sister) two males; the other ones all went to nice, loving homes so I have great hope on a happy future for all of them! The first stories are already positive, the puppies are adapting well and are easy, cheerful, eager to learn and very sweet.
And that completes this Puppy diary and Yacime’s great adventure. It was an amazing time, I enjoyed every minute and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! Thanks to everybody for the kind messages in my guestbook or mailbox. Ofcourse I will continue to add news and pictures of Yacime's first pups, but here you find the very last pictures of the complete Rocksett C(hristmas)-litter in my home...

Puppy test
February 16, 2010 (day 54)

Last Friday the pups were submitted to a Puppy test (character-/
behaviour test). Because of the cold and the snow it was hard work for both people and pups. Nevertheless it was a useful experience in order to make the final choice in the match between puppies and future owners. I am very grateful to Nel Blaakman en Marjet Bosman (from the Netherlands) for being so kind as to take this test - which officially belongs to the Flatcoats - with my litter. Thanks a million once more! On the Puppy page pictures can be found.

Earlier in the week the pups were dewormed for the third and last time here. On the Sunday my sister and I again took the whole bunch to the forest! After all, in the coming days the inevitable departure will take place...
To the forest...
February 10, 2010 (day 48)
This morning my Labrador friend Leny and I took the puppies to the forest... How they loved it! We only stayed for half an hour since it is quite an impressive happening for the little ones, but also because we again had snow and the pups ofcourse shouldn't get too cold. But they enjoyed themselves a lot, and also their very first car drive went smoothly. Pictures of a.o. the adventure in the forest can be found on the Puppy page
Vaccinated and microchipped
February 8, 2010 (day 46)

Time flies, the puppies are over 6 weeks old already... Last Thursday the vet came to my house to check the litter and give the puppy vaccination. They all underwent this without a problem. However, in the days that followed some of the doggies fell ill (diarrhea and not wanting to eat) but now they are all well again!
As for activities and visitors these are busy times. This weekend we also had the third Puppy meeting - which again was very nice! - and this morning the litter has been microchipped. The doggies were great once more and hardly showed any resistance. Being chipped, they definitively had their pedigree names (phrases from Christmas songs) assigned:

In the garden
February 3, 2010 (day 41)
Today the pups went outside for the first time! The snow in the backgarden was finally gone and we even had some sunshine. Some of the doggies were a little wary in taking that big step, but it wasn’t long before the whole bunch was outside running and playing. It only lasted for 15 minutes, but that clearly was enough for now - have a look at the photos...
Week 5...
January 31, 2010 (day 38)
It's been a very hectic weekend, but Yacime and I managed to take a few hours outside in the winter sunshine... It was really crowded in the forest, but nonetheless we had wonderful walks and enjoyed playing ball together. Also we both had fun looking at the many children fully taking advantage of the snow by sleighing downhills!
The puppies are now in their fifth week and divide their time between eating, sleeping, playing and making a mess of the house ;-). Every evening the pups can leave the pen - two at the time - to have a walk in my livingroom. It’s so lovely to watch them freely approach new objects like furniture, and to see them jump about like little deer. And meanwhile mummy Yacime is keeping a close eye on things, shares her most favorite toys & chewing bones with her pups and sometimes carefully plays with them… Precious moments!

Changes
January 25, 2010 (day 32)

The past few days were rather exciting for the puppies. First there was the second deworming, which thankfully again went without any discomfort. Then on the Sunday we had another Puppy meeting; it was a Full House ;-), but a very pleasant afternoon! Thanks so much to all for your presence and help!!
Furthermore the pups have moved to a bigger residence and they again adapted so easily to the change!
They really love the puppy pen, having big fun running around and investigating all the new things... (click here for pictures).

The fourth week...
January 22, 2010 (day 29)

One month old are Yacime’s puppies already… How they’ve grown tremendously over the weeks; from small, helpless little creatures into firm, steady, brave little doggies. And they sure know how to act funny - go check the new photos!
Mum is still doing great too, she had a nice shower yesterday. Right after the delivery I already
thoroughly rinsed her trousers and tail, but I didn’t want to tire her with a whole wash at that time. But now she is totally fresh & clean again!

Puppy food
January 19, 2010 (day 26)
Another step into The Big Puppy World: Yacime’s babies had some soaked dry food added to the porridge today. And they liked it even better! What a flock of greedy guts ;-). Also I trimmed their nails again today, they almost grow as fast as the pups themselves. They now all weigh between 1800-2200 grams and are looking super!
Pictures of the feeding and some other lovely snapshots can be found on the Puppy page.

Meat!
January 17, 2010 (day 24)
Today I treated the pups with meat for the first time: what a thrill! They all greedily took a bite and this time again their stomachs stayed okay. This brave little bunch is so strong and brings so much pleasure! They practically all had their teeth coming through, they enjoy a good play together and their wacky wobbling is so much fun to watch. And Yacime also still fully enjoys her offspring ;-). On the Puppy page new pictures can be found of this happy little family...
What a day...

Yacime and Lewis

Yesterday I got the incredibly sad confirmation of Yacime’s great friend Lewis (Silence Dream Inspector Lewis) having to pass from this world into eternity… Lewis stayed with us for a while last summer to keep Yacime company after the unexpected death of my Chanel (see Pictures)… Lewis suddenly fell very ill two weeks ago and after thorough medical research he was diagnosed with the horrible disease Lymphoma. Today we said goodbye to him with a tremendous pain in our hearts; he was the sweetest possible chap and only 2 years old…
Thankfully there is also good news and joy, because Yacime and her babies are still doing great. The puppies are now 3 weeks old and had their first meal of porridge yesterday: they loved it! And mummy didn’t mind at all that she was allowed to lick the bowls afterwards. Pictures of this can be found on the
Puppy page.

Movies!!
January 13, 2010 (day 20)
Marion (our puppy sitter for two days) sent me some lovely movies! The squeaking on the first movie is coming from one of the pups who went from the weaning pen back into the whelping box, but didn’t know (yet) how to get back again ;-). The second movie shows Yacime cleaning the pen, while the pups take advantage of the fact that the Beetlejuice Bar is so easily at their disposal…Thank you Marion, the movies are very nice!

Visitors and expansion
January 10, 2010 (day 17)
Today was a special day for the future puppy owners; they came to visit the litter for the first time! Apparently everybody was enjoying themselves, and Yacime no less: she loved all the hugs and the attention ;-). I would like to thank everybody again for a wonderful afternoon!
After the visitors left, we expanded the whelping box with a weaning pen; clearly the puppies were ready for this, they can walk quite reasonably since two days and some of them already tried to climb out of the front of the box.

Much to my surprise the pups needed no time whatsoever to adjust to the new situation; they all immediately stumbled into the pen and leisurely started to drink and sleep with their mother (also see the Puppy page). A huge step in a small puppy life!
Deworming
January 7, 2010 (day 14)
The pups were dewormed... I expected them to dislike it a lot, but only a few put on an ugly face. Thankfully the diarrhea and intestinal cramps didn't occur either. These little doggies are really strong!
Yacime was also dewormed, which has never caused any discomfort and this time was no exception. What I did notice though is that she tends to forget about herself in her care for the babies. So I have to make sure she keeps taking enough distance to rest...

Eyes open
January 3, 2010 (day 10)
This is so much fun! The pups are thriving well, five of them already weigh one kilo or more... During the past night their eyes have slightly opened which makes them all look even cuter! This afternoon I trimmed their nails for the second time; this to prevent them from making nasty scratches on their mummy's belly. Yacime by the way is also doing superbly, she is very pleased with her offspring and sometimes sits alongside of them with a face that seems to be saying "Aren't they gorgeous? They're MINE!" :-)
p.s.: there are again some new photos...
Week 2
January 1, 2010 (day 8)
A new year, and a new week for the puppies! Check the Puppy page...
Heartwarming
December 30, 2009 (day 6)
Isn't this a beautiful sight?? On the Puppy page you can find new pictures, and they are all just as heartwarming. Yacime really is crazy about her babies, that's so very wonderful to see! Times flies when you realise the litter will be one week old already tomorrow... And everything is still going so well, the puppies have a sturdy feel to them, all weighing close to 800 grs. Mum clearly has enough food because not one of them is complaining! Since yesterday Yacime starts leaving the pups more often and sometimes sleeps outside the box. And in the afternoon she now likes to escort me for a short walk in the forest where she is fully enjoying herself!
More photo's
December 27, 2009 (day 3)
After the activity of the first few days, to some extent the calm has now returned in the 'Rocksett' house... We all found our way and everything is going very well. I'm having a great time watching the new mum and her little miracles! Yacime is tolerant and cheerful, she loves to go out for a walk but afterwards she's ever so happy to be quickly reunited with her babies :-). On the Puppy page I put some pictures of this lovely little scene and the coming weeks I will keep adding new photo's on a regular basis!
Puppies!!!
December 25, 2009 (day 1)
I am so proud of Yacime, but no less of her 10 beautiful babies... Born on the day before Christmas: 4 males and 6 females. It was a smooth, uncomplicated delivery. The contractions started at 03.30 o'clock, at 04.07 the first pup was born and the last one arrived at 12.50. I'm very grateful for my sister Irene and my Labrador friend Leny for their help and company during this delivery!!
Yacime proves to be a fantastic mother and takes perfect care of her super healthy offspring. The pups grew amazingly well in their first day and are extremely satisfied...
